Westwell Wines is currently marketing two premium sparkling wines, with two further versions to be released over the coming years. All sparkling wines are handmade using the bottle fermentation method. As well, we have three Ortega white still variants, a Chardonnay and Pinot Noir as part of our 'Naughty Hare' Range.

Ortega Classic Ferment

100% Ortega Dry Still White - Fermented mainly in stainless steel.

Notes:  Honeysuckle, grapefruit and peaches on the nose leading to a rounded dry finish with hints of lychees and melon.
Goes with:  An excellent accompaniment to shellfish and white meats or enjoyed on its own.

Ortega Classic Pink

Ortega & Barrel Fermented Pinot Noir

Notes:  A dry rosé style of crisp cranberries, cut grass, roses and a hint of raspberry with a good length.
Goes with:  Seafood dishes, cheeses and summer salads

Ortega Amphora

100% Ortega Dry Still White - Fermented in Terracotta Amphora - 1st in UK!

Notes:  Honey, lemon and peaches on the nose leading to a full rounded textured dry finish with hints of white flowers and grapefruit.
Goes with:  An excellent accompaniment to seafood, white meats, tapas or enjoyed on its own.

The Philosopher

100% Ortega Dessert Wine - frozen grapes produce tiny amounts of juice, which is subsequently fermented in barrel.

Notes:  Honey and lemon on the nose leading to a sherbet and marmalade well balanced pudding wine.  Very moreish!
Goes with:  An excellent accompaniment to lemon-based puddings as well as Thai foods and cheeses.

'Naughty Hare' Chardonnay

100% Chardonnay Dry White – Partially wild yeast fermented, aged in older French barrels before going through malolactic fermentation in tank.
Notes:  Lemon, apples and wet stones on the nose, followed by gentle creamy citrus flavours and a touch of herbs.  A long rounded finish with a touch of oak.
Goes with:  Enjoy with roast chicken, baked salmon, shellfish or savoured on its own!

Special Cuvée Sparkling

Chardonnay, Pinot Noir & Pinot Meunier
Aging:  Minimum of 36 months before disgorgement
Notes:  Wonderful, minerally nose with Pinot notes beginning to emerge. Chalky, mineral notes frame the long, utterly impeccable finish.
Goes with:  An excellent accompaniment to richer foods such as fish in sauces, rare beef & oriental foods as well as for celebrating on its own!

Special Pink Sparkling

Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, touch of Chardonnnay
Aging:  Minimum of 24 months before disgorgement
Notes:  Pale salmon pink with a delicate vinous nose of bonbons and red berries. Mouth filling pinots give way to a refreshing tangy finish.
Goes with:  Smoked salmon, lobster or dark chocolates as an indulgence!

Blanc de Blancs Sparkling

100% Chardonnay
Aging:  Minimum of 30 months before disgorgement
Notes:  Fresh with vivid lemon & apple – hints of toasted almonds with a long finish and fine mousse
Goes with:  A great match with smoked salmon or saucy fish dishes as well as goats cheese or stilton salads.

Pelegrim NV

Pelegrim, meaning Pilgrim in middle English, is our on-trade bottle fermented NV sparkler made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir & Pinot Meunier using reserve wines from several vintages.
Aging:  Minimum of 18 months before disgorgement.
Notes:  Fresh mineral nose with Pinot fruit emerging. Saline and rich mineral tones give way to a long off-dry finish.
Goes with:  A classic apéritif that also lends itself to smoked salmon, fish cakes and hors d'oeuvre.

'Naughty Hare' Pinot Noir

100% Pinot Noir Still Red - Wild yeast fermented with a 'Burgundian-style' maceration, then aged for 9 months in 2 year old French oak barrels.
Notes: Lovely ripe red fruits and strawberries on the nose, leading to juicy stewed redcurrants with soft tannins on the palate.  Gentle oak leads to a long finish.
Goes with: Pasta dishes, roast lamb or chicken.
